The Closing of Library Services… The Opening of Library Services
Wednesday, Oct. 22, 3-5:30 pm
Brewster Kahle, founder of the Internet Archive and director of the Open Content Alliance (OCA) and a critic of proprietary services like the massive Google Books project, will be the keynote speaker for the fourth John Seely Brown Symposium on Technology and Society sponsored by the University of Michigan School of Information. Mr. Kahle’s lecture will explore the implications for libraries of the “closing” of content, and will consider “open” alternatives.
Following Kahle’s talk, a panel of experts will comment on Kahle’s ideas and discuss the possibilities of “Library 2.0.”
